The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of Church Representatives and Community Representatives.
Church Representatives: each church that is sponsoring Tamarack Christian School appoints a representative to be a director.
Church Representatives: a director chosen by the Board of Directors from among the families attending sponsoring churches or families who has enrolled children in the school

Hello, my name is Josh Emmel. I am originally from Clearbrook, MN but moved to Warroad to start a business with a friend in 2022. I am married and have 4 children. My wife and I are passionate about Christian education in all forms, and we are excited about the opportunity Warroad has with the newly established Tamarack Christian School.
While I did start a business in the agriculture industry, I am also a pastor. Before moving to Warroad I served as a full time pastor in Kenmare, ND. Now, my family and I are members of the Warroad Baptist Church, where I also serve as an Elder and Lay Pastor.
There are many things our family loves about the Warroad area. We have made many friends in the community. There are endless outdoor activities between hunting, fishing, and trail riding. There are lots of community events and extra-curricular activities that keep our family engaged summer and winter. It is our hope that Tamarack Christian School will add even more to an already wonderful community.

I am Pastor of Warroad Community Church where I enjoy serving the church through pastoral care, teaching and preaching, equipping the saints for the work of ministry, and overseeing church operations. Daren and his wife Rhoda home school their children, Sebastian and Esther, and are passionate to help the Warroad Community build Christian education opportunities.
My faith journey of healing and discipleship in Jesus Christ included 14 years of increasing intimacy with Jesus while serving in my home church. Daren has been a licensed minister of the gospel since 2019.

I attended a Christian school from kindergarten through fifth grade. While attending high school in Warroad, I was called into full-time ministry. I received a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry from Colorado Christian University and have been in children’s ministry ever since. I am finishing a master’s degree in applied apologetics with an emphasis on innovative evangelism from CCU. I currently serve as the Family and Children’s Pastor of Woodland Bible Church. I married my high school sweetheart, and we have three children. We moved away from Warroad for a decade but are delighted to be back in this community. Warroad is a unique small town with so much to offer. I am also very excited about serving on the board of Tamarack Christian School. I believe this school will be a blessing to our churches and our community.

Originally from Warroad, Steve felt the call to ministry while living in the Twin Cities, and moved up to Bemdji, MN to finish his degree in Pastoral Ministry from Oak Hills Christian College. After graduating, Steve and Tiffany moved back to Warroad to start their family.
Steve started his ministry in Warroad and grew in his love for preaching and teaching the Word of God at the Union Congregational Church, and then at the Warroad Baptist Church, during which time he also finished his graduate studies at Crown College.
Aside from work and ministry, Steve loves to spend time on the lake with his wife and five beautiful children. He also loves to show his children no mercy in Mario Kart.
Paul King, Community Director Warroad Baptist Church
I am a passionate advocate for Christian education, believing it to be an important facet of the biblical mandate to teach the precepts of God to our children (Deu 4:9. 6:7, 11:19; Pro 22:6; Psa 78:5; Eph 6:4).
As a father of 13, seven of whom are adopted, and nine of which have or will be homeschooled through graduation, I serve on the board because I realize that not all families are set up in such a way as to enable them to homeschool. Consequently, there is a vital need for a well run, biblically grounded Christian school.
I spent 13 combined years in the United States Air Force in both active duty and active reserve duty as a linguist. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I have worked for the US Dept. of Commerce in voice and video research, and I have spent the last 28 years working as a senior systems programmer for a large manufacturing company.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising to stay healthy, and helping to teach Tae Kwon Do locally.
